What's in the SDK
Gorilla Engine SDK provides the tools and runtime for creating virtual instruments and audio effects. The standard plugin workflow uses Gorilla Engine React for the user interface and application layer. The Enterprise flavour also provides Gorilla Engine as a C++ library for integration into your own application or plugin framework.
The SDK covers the complete product workflow: creating the sound core, exposing parameters, building the application layer and interface, compiling plugin formats and creating installers. With the optional Product Hub package, preparing a release is a simple straightforward process.

Gorilla Editor
Section titled “Gorilla Editor”Gorilla Editor is where you create the sound core of an instrument or the signal-processing core of an effect. It handles samples, mappings, groups, signal flow, modulation, filters, effects, and other audio behavior.
All of this together can then be exported to a .blob file, our proprietary format. Your plugin loads the blob and presents the product interface.
Gorilla Script
Section titled “Gorilla Script”Gorilla Script models the complete behavior of an instrument or effect. It translates performance inputs—such as notes, velocity, and controllers—into real-time control over sample playback, articulations, module routing, and signal flow. Enabling you do create anything you want.
Gorilla Engine React
Section titled “Gorilla Engine React”Build native interfaces using React. Gorilla Engine React pairs familiar patterns, like hooks, JSX, and TypeScript, with our dedicated component library. Powered by a custom native backend rather than an embedded web browser, your plugins stay fast, responsive, and lightweight without extra overhead.
Start with the Gorilla Engine React examples included in SDK/examples/Gorilla Engine React:
- Basic Synth demonstrates parameter-bound controls, envelopes, filters, and preset integration.
- FX - Reverb demonstrates a compact effect interface and macOS Retina assets.
- Drum Sequencer demonstrates complex state, instrument arrays, reusable editors, and DAW transport integration.
Each example is a complete plugin project rather than an isolated code fragment.
Gorilla Compiler
Section titled “Gorilla Compiler”Gorilla Compiler turns your project into a shippable product while handling all the heavy lifting compiling the binaries, signing, copy protection, and release packaging. It lets you run and test real plugins right from the start, ensuring host integration, parameters, and assets are continuously verified.
Gorilla Engine C++ Library (Enterprise)
Section titled “Gorilla Engine C++ Library (Enterprise)”Embed Gorilla Engine’s audio engine directly in any C++ application or plugin. Build the sonic core in Gorilla Editor, export it as blob files, and use the GorillaEngine::GEPub interface to load instruments, control parameters, send MIDI, and render audio. Your application supplies the interface and host integration.
This library is available in the Enterprise flavour of the SDK. See Gorilla Engine C++ Library for supported platforms, CPU architectures, custom ARM builds, and bare-metal options.
Next Steps
Section titled “Next Steps”Follow the Quick Start to scaffold and build a plugin. Use the Editor, Script, React, runtime API, and Compiler sections when you need detailed guidance or reference information.
