Gorilla Script

Gorilla Script models the behavior of an instrument or effect. It reacts to notes, velocity, controllers, transport, and other events; selects and modifies the sounds that play; controls modules and signal flow; and coordinates behavior across the sonic core.

For example, a sampled piano can use Gorilla Script to trigger mechanical frame noises only at higher velocities, shape those noises according to the played note, and place them appropriately in the mix. The same layer can implement articulations, round-robin selection, key switches, release samples, arpeggiators, generated notes, tempo synchronization, and effect behavior.

Exposing carefully selected parameters to the user interface is another important responsibility, but it is only one aspect of Gorilla Script.

You can write scripts from scratch or adapt the examples in SDK/examples/Script Examples. If you are familiar with Kontakt Script, many concepts will be recognizable.

See the Gorilla Script Reference for detailed language documentation and examples. For its place in product development, see Workflow in Detail.
